Intrinsically Safe PCB Applications

Intrinsic safety (IS) is a protection technique for safe operation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas by limiting the energy available for ignition. In signal and control circuits that can operate with low currents and voltages, the intrinsic safety approach simplifies circuits and reduces installation cost over other protection methods.

Momentums Experience Providing You Safety Through PCB Manufacturing

Areas with dangerous concentrations of flammable gases or dust are found in applications such as petrochemical refineries and mines. As a discipline, it is an application of inherent safety in instrumentation.

Momentum Circuits are experienced printed circuit board manufacturers, and are experienced in manufacturing printed circuit boards that are used within IS applications such as gas meters where the PCB forms an active barrier as part of the design.

The circuits have filled and plugged via where epoxy or metal is used to fill any holes in the circuit board to make it form an effective barrier and protection against gas leakage.

What our customers say...

"We were pleasantly surprised that your Sales Director was clearly knowledgeable about filled via applications during the meeting, as we have always been directed towards an in-house engineer who hadn't seen what we were trying to achieve. The advice given has made my job of specifying the circuit design much easier, and anything that makes my job easier will always be appreciated."

Momentum Circuits supply circuit boards with a certified build and very fine tolerances on dimensions to be used in applications such as meters, instrumentation and applications within petro-chemical and similar hazardous/flammable environments.
